Netgear Adapter Won't Work. Hey Guys, here's my situation: Just installed windows 7 64 bit. I'm using a pci wireless adapter chip, Netgear wgv3 I installed the netgear driver automatically, and then installed the netger smart wizard.

However, the smart wizard will not start up. I've done some research, and apparently netgear doesn't make 64bit drivers. I've also tried using the chipset driver which is a Marvell 88w But I may not have used the right driver. To sum it up: I have a netgear wgv3 adapter. It won't run the wizard. What should I do? Do I need to go back to 32 bit? Hello JokerSmoker Welcome to the Se7enforums! Unfortunately there is 64bit Vista support with the latest actually last going back to February Hello, I actually have the exact same problem, and managed to partially solve it by downloading the Vista x64 drivers for the Marvell chipset used in the WGv3.

First be sure to remove the crappy Netgear software you might have tried to install in the first place. Not sure I'm clear there. But the issue is that the driver is not signed by Microsoft, so you'll have to enable the "Test Mode" to allow the driver to load when windows start. See there for how to do that: Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider 1. Isn't there a way to have this driver signed once and for all? OS Windows 7 x Originally Posted by JokerSmoker.

The official site requires me to register before I can even download it, so avoiding this would be a bonus. I have installed the driver from the site and it runs ok to a point: Can someone help by providing click-by-click directions?

I'm not a complete novice but clearly not clever enough to follow the directions previously Netgear doesn't have the drivers yet and can't tell me when they will have them. Anyone know of a dual band adapter that will work? Windows 7 Forums is an independent web site and has not been authorized, sponsored, or otherwise approved by Microsoft Corporation.

With any 64bit Windows and older adapter of any you may have to actually buy something newer that at least sees XP Pro 64 or Vista 64bit support. The problem isn't with 7 but manufacturers not wanting to provide updated drivers for the newer Windows in order to sell newer models.

I haven't had any issues with it until now. I was on the internet when suddenly the wireless shut off. The wireless in the house works fine, but the laptop doesn't detect it.
