I cannot connect to this printer from my laptop running win XP 32 bit. It keeps telling me that the required drivers are not installed on the server, but every driver I have tried to install has failed. Please could somebody assist me with this problem. It appears to be the same problem as your's. If by some chance it does not very doubtful come back and you could try "Search" towards top of page or click on "Tutorials" little lower. It is also possible that someone else might have a different solution, we have some extremely talented and friendly people here on SF. The answer is here, we just have to find it.
I used the tutorial for finding the missing info but still could not find it. The printer works perfectly of my win7 pc and I have the original driver cd for XP but just can't get the correct driver installed for XP, sorry to be such a bother but getting rather frustrated now.
Windows 7 Home Premium x Here's the HP driver link for your printer: During the install it should ask you whether the printer is connected through a network or USB. It should then detect it on the network and you should be good. I am assuming though that the printer is connected through a router via ethernet. This is my first post. I have read many on here but none have really helped. Share a Printer from XP to Windows 7/8/10
I have an HP printer hooked up to the XP machine using a parallel port and sharing it. I researched it and downloaded the right version for each machine and made sure it was compatible with my printer. I extract the drivers on the XP machine and go into the printer properties and update the driver and point it to the files I just extracted and it works flawlessly. I go to the Win 7 machines and go to do the same thing and the Advanced tab in printer properties is greyed out. You can still read everything in there, but I can't make any changes. All machines are logged in as Admin so there's admin rights all around. Checked the same tab on a different printer and it's not greyed out. Since it's a shared printer, I'm assuming it has something to do with the permissions set on the XP machine? It's XP Home edition, anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
