Analog Devices Adi 198x Integrated Audio Driver Windows 7 Download Install Update
The driver was located here, see if it will work with your comp too: I doubt it will work on 64bit but you can try it. My sound is working just fine. If the link doesn't work, just go to support. The driver will pop up. I wanted to move my Win7 installation from my laptop to my old Dell Optiplex, but I thought I was not going to be able to unless I gave up sound or tried to use a card, and mine are all pretty old. It's a nice Satellite laptop and I didn't want to wear it out using it every single day for hours on end when I could use an older machine instead.
But, I am really curious how you found the driver. Any secrets to share? Or was it just a matter of trying until you found one as I had planned to do? Thank you sooo much. It worked and I am singing my songs.
So, I have no sound. It is also missing a driver for the PCInput Device. Wednesday, February 4, 4: You'll find most of the drivers on the Dell page below. Unfortunately it seems to be an older model, so you're restricted to installing Windows XP drivers.
Marked as answer by Andy Song Wednesday, February 11, 4: Wednesday, February 4, 5: Thanks, I got the driver for the SoundMax, but I still have no sound.
I looked on the same Dell site, but couldn't see anything that was under these names. These are the last two remaining items under the Device tab that needs work.
Other than these Win7 seems to be doing OK, but it would be nice to get sound. Wednesday, February 4, 6: This is probably a stupid question, but did you actually install the drivers? The Multimedia Audio Device is your sound card.
As far as the PCI Input Device is concerned, I googled it a bit and it could be anything from a voice modem to yet another sound card a lot of Dell users are reporting the same problem. Most of the times the names of the missing devices are quite cryptic, so you have to be a bit creative.
This is a beta anyway, so it couldn't hurt if you tried a few more of those drivers on the Dell page you can always start a fresh install if things go awry or if you've finally found the appropriate driver. Wednesday, February 4, 7: Well I have corrected all but one more problem. I now have an unknown device that shows. I finally figured out that the unknown device is the game port on the Sound Blaster card. I have the drivers loaded for the sound blaster.
When I try to install the driver for the unknown device it comes back with it being the sound blaster game port and tries to install a driver but then comes back with a statement that it can't find a sound blaster card and the installation ends.
I can look in the device list and it shows the sound blaster card and shows that it is working OK but the system doesn't seem to find it. What is funny is that when I try to update the driver, it seems to find the driver and then tries to install but then comes back with a statement that it can't find a sound blaster card.
Wednesday, February 4, 8: Ive done it installed with no problem for more than 10 laptops and desktops. Proposed as answer by Rashid Amin Friday, September 2, Thursday, December 17, Download the XP driver for your dell from dell. Win 7 won't allow you to run the XP setup file so you will have to configure it through Device Manager by clicking update driver and direct Win 7 to the proper folder where you downloaded the XP audio driver. That's how I got mine to work.
Friday, January 15, 3: You can get the driver from here: Monday, May 17, 6: Thank you so much. Saturday, May 29, 6: RoninMoto's driver suggestion worked for Dell Precision with Windows 7. Monday, October 11, 3: I am having the same problem with a Dell Dimension I have tried installing update driver software a Vista driver that is supposed to work r How do I get around that?

Dell SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio Free Driver Download
Eloquently put, the site is simply elegant. It does TRY to install -- there's no 'Sorry but you have the wrong OS message, as Dell's drivers usually give you when that's the case. AND there's a folder labelled 'SE' in the driver files. However when you try the install it bangs out as unable to find a file and nothing actually gets installed. I checked most of the See More machines listed in the description here Dimension , Optiplex S I believe that in the past this driver may have supported SE, that it was adapted rather casually when applied to these machines, and that the person who uploaded it here simply clicked the Win98SE choice by mistake. However for Dell machines running supported OS's, the place to look is Dell's web site. Searching 'Dell support machine model ' will get you there quickly. Overview Reviews Related Drivers.
