Tp Link 150mbps Wireless N Pci Adapter Driver Download Install Update
I used this on a re-purposed old desktop in a mid-tower case for one of my young kids to begin using as a simple word processor and don't tell him a Minecraft client!
I didn't need anything more than the Mbps these offer so it was just a matter of making sure I picked the correct version of the two. This one worked out better for me anyway because of where the slots were in relation the my existing graphics card and a slot-fan mounted just next to it. I'd recommend checking your motherboard and your free slots before you pick one or the other.
The installation was straight-forward and since I was installing it on a mid-tower case, there was no need to switch to the included low-profile bracket nice touch btw. Once properly mounted, I loaded Ubuntu After the whole installation process, Ubuntu connected to the WiFi network I'd specified and I did not need any additional configuration. I imagine that Windows support is a given, but it's always nice to find hardware that works right out of the box on Linux.
As for reception, I get what I would have expected for a NIC with only one antenna that ended up being placed on the lowest slot in the case. It sits 2 rooms and about 40 feet away thru multiple walls and it delivers good performance.
The icon on the OS shows 2 out of 4 bars but I downloaded all of the OS updates and did not notice any hiccups, or latency issues. The machine felt as responsive to online activities as any other wired terminal on my network.
It's not exactly a quantitative metric, but it's comparative from someone who makes his living online. While it is fairly priced there are some issues with it. For some reason you have to install the software that comes with it, whenever you power up the pc it defaults to power saver mode. This causes the wifi to time out periodically and at times when typing in a browser it deselects the typing window and causes you to have to click back in the chat box before typing can be resumed.

It worked well, but it gave me constant trouble "connecting" on the XP system. I never got it to work and was afraid I'd have a similar problem with this card. Thankfully, no issues at all. I needed a cheap, Windows 10 compatible, wireless card.
This card fit the bill. Easy to install like always I instantly threw away the disk it came with and used what Microsoft supplied as a driver , Windows 10 detected it instantly and had no issues.
Is it the best wireless card in the world? I think there is a reasonable chance of that! Both are working flawlessly, which in this case means that the wireless signal is consistent and does not drop. I got a full mbps on my primary router and the full 75mbps on the older, more limited router; both with no signal fluctuations or drops during the time I was monitoring. This is plenty fast for standard internet viewing purposes. I moved the WND to a spot in the house that typically gets a low wireless signal and it didn't fare better than other devices, unfortunately, but it still recieved a signal and did not drop.
Installation was a breeze Then attach the antenna to the outside. Installing PCI and other peripheral cards may seem daunting if you haven't done it before, but I assure you one or two internet videos worth of research and you'll find this an easy task.
This is not something you should pay someone to do for you! I'm not sure I'll buy another desktop again, but if I do it will certainly have a PCIe wireless card. These two TP-Link cards are an excellent choice. Easy install and setup; clear, consistent signal; good build quality Cons: Range slightly limited half signal in room only ft away with no major obstructions.
One person found this helpful. Very aggravating, and it took some searching online to figure out the trick to keeping it from stealing your current window constantly as soon as the interface is running, click it to the Advanced tab before you minimise it. Under Linux Mint, it's recognised and fires right up with no problem and no need to install anything. I bought one of these for my mom when she moved to a new apartment where we had to put the computer desk a pretty long way from the cable outlet.
I really didn't want to have to run a long cable around a room and past a doorway to connect it. She has an older Dell Optiplex, but I was able to get this physically installed in just a couple of minutes.
I really appreciate the fact that it came with a half-height PCI slot plate, which is what she needed.
It was easy to switch out. The driver install was easy, fast and totally painless. I had her PC up and running on the wireless in 10 minutes or less and there have been zero issues since.
I should note that the PC is only about 12 feet from the wireless router and all of this is in a small apartment, so I don't know how well it performs in bigger, open spaces or in more complex RF environments like factories, hospitals etc.
But for a residence, it's perfect, at least for us. This is a good product it seems so far. It takes some shifting and finesse to get it to fit into position but, it ends up fitting. Well, I gave this product only 4 stars as the range signal distance seems to be on the just ok side. I have used laptops with better wifi range built into the laptop. This card does not drop signal or anyhting like that however it may need a larger antenna or something to help extend the range?
I am only one room away from my wireless router and I get only bars win7 network. I tried to contact TP-Link to possibly check for any updated drivers as Windows does not recognize or seem to have drivers for this device. So I ended up using the driver provided on the disc which are currently the same drivers found on the TP Link website for download.
I have not heard back from TP Link so, I can not say much for their customer support. All in all it works, it has a good warranty period compared to other cards, and is a nice deal for the price. Works fine on a Dell Optiplex running Windows7 64 bit.
Driver and utility that came on the mini CD installed without issue. All my wireless access points are G so I can't really comment on N speed. Signal strength is good, no better or worse than most other wireless NICs with a 3 inch external antennae. However, I don't like how the utility pops open onto the desktop every time you reboot.
I ended up uninstalling the utility but kept the driver and let Windows7 manage the adapter, which it does just fine.
Worthless in Windows 8. No more TP-Link hardware for Windows going forward. The manufacturer seems uninterested in any sort of Windows support for Windows 8. It's a shame as the hardware appears flawless under openSuse Linux. Easy setup and fine speed and range for a low cost device like this. Newer devices may garner better support but is it worth the risk?
