Xbox One Wireless Adapter For Windows 7 Driver Download Install Update
However after purchasing the device it could not find any drivers to install. I tried automatically looking for them and going through the Windows Update Catalog without success. I have a bit system so I tried the AMD64 driver first but it gave the error "The data is invalid". The x86 version the same result. I know the process I used to install the drivers was correct as I also installed the Xbox One Controller driver at this time, which works great while plugged in.
I was hoping to use this PC to play games on my TV, away from my desktop. Is there any way to get this thing to work or am I better off just returning it? I'm not going to update to Windows 10 so don't suggest it.
The only reason I bought this device was because they claimed I didn't need to. If this still does not work, I would recommend posting your query in Xbox Support forum for the best possible support. What do you need help with? Did this solve your problem? Sorry this didn't help. I spoke with Xbox support and Windows support at length before posting the question here. Here's the play by play of my interactions:.
Called Windows support attempting after I couldn't find the drivers for the Wireless Adapter. I asked if they were certain this was the driver I needed since it specifically mentioned Xbox and not Xbox One. He said he was sure, so I installed it. It popped up immediately, "Microsoft Xbox Accessories Status". Didn't fix the problem. He told me to restart the computer and gave me a link to reconnect with him after I had done that.
I restarted, still didn't work, link provided by support didn't work so I ended up talking to a different representative. She pointed me to talk to someone from Xbox Support, providing me with a number to call them at. I spoke with someone from Xbox support and they told me that this was a Windows support problem since they specifically dealt with problems with the Xbox consoles and problems with Windows 10 game support.
Since I was using Windows 7 they pointed me back to Windows support, stating very clearly that they wouldn't really know where to start helping me with my problem. Continuing to speak with the second Windows support representative she pointed me to the Windows Update Catalog. Searching through I found the Xbox One controller driver and the above referenced Wireless Adapter drivers. I downloaded the drivers and the representative showed me the steps to install the drivers to my system.
Xbox One controller drivers worked flawlessly, while the controller was plugged in though the Play and Charge Kit it worked perfectly. The Wireless Adapter drivers however could not install, giving the " The data is invalid" error.
After a bit of back and forth with the representative about what to do they said to post the question here while she placed a bug report. I already spoke with support, they told me to post the question here and the drivers you linked don't work.
