Recently I went on a business trip and ran into a huge issue with the Wifi being either super slow or constantly disconnecting. This happened during my flight and when I was trying to do work in the hotel room.
I actually had to bum off of my coworker's old Macbook Pro and was majorly annoyed that this high end laptop couldn't even keep a consistent connection. I tried all the different Killer Suites, including the beta drives, and even the suite-less drivers but no joy.
When I got back to my office, I decided to do some testing. I configured a router for 2. For testing, I had set up an area in the next room over to run speed test on a few devices.
The 5Ghz band, I consistent performance across all of the devices. Exactly what I would expect. However, when I switched over to the 2. I found that all of the devices aside from the Razer Blade were very consistent with download and upload speeds of approx.
However, the Razer Blade was at a whooping ms with 0. What the hell right? Thinking that it had to do with the wireless card which was an issue I had on my Blade so I swapped out the Killer for the Intel and ran the test again.
Still had horrible performance. The only other issue I could think of was the antenna. I carefully popped off the antenna connections, connected the Intel NUC antennas, powered on the machine and ran the speed test again. I held my breath and BAM, the numbers jumped up to where my other devices were at.
I threw in the Killer and again, great performance. I reconnected the default antennas, ran the test again and it was back to its original slow speed. The last thing I did was walk over to the router, place the Blade right next to it and ran the test again. Instantly, the throughput shot up. It was the damn antenna. This leads me to believe that there is an issue of how and where Razer has decided to place their antenna. Did some testing and found that the antenna was the issue and was able to replicate issue on a second Razer Blade This might be a design issue.
I'm not sure, krak3n. I personally use a 2. Anyways, I have been using my Blade for a few weeks now, and it has been working fine on the 2. Are you using any wireless peripheral with your Razer blade? It might also be the very reason. Antennas are usually placed behind the screen to prevent inductive noise from motherboard circuitries I didn't have any wireless peripherals.
Dice, did you compare the throughput of your Blade to another laptop? I did more testing on a new Asus router and found that I could get connection and surf the web just fine but when compared to my other laptops, the speed was half.
Did you check your power saving options to make sure everything is set to high performance, etc.? Did u go into device settings and update the driver. Zwippie , Jun 14, Last edited by a moderator: Having issues with the new blade's wireless connectivity regardless of band. I've forced it to 5, and 2. I've updated the drivers, tried no Killer suite, tried the beta It's the only machine in the house that has issue So I don't know what's up with the , but I'm starting to fear that I'm stuck with a dud.
RiverMonster , Jun 22, Having this issue as well, while doing very simple stuff: I also own a Macbook Pro and a iPhone 6. Only the Razer had the issue. Only diagnosis tool I can install to try and give Razer's tech support some more info? Don't install the killer wireless suite from their website. You can get them from razer support separately. The one from the killer website gave me such problems too.
Tereezy , Jun 23, Anyone have an update to this wireless issue? My blade keeps dropping connection and my Macbook does not have this problem when same distance from router. SSoSD , Jun 24, I have the same problem. I tested with my Samsung S6 and it gets better speeds on it in the same place on 2.
I'm having very slow speeds on my blade! Is there any solution?? There is something wrong with the wireless in the Blade. I think it's more obvious when using 2. However, I've noticed that my other devices, when in the same situations, get faster speeds and lower pings. I was disconnecting like every 15 minutes in Elder Scrolls Online which was really annoying as I just purchased the game.
I uninstalled all of my wifi drivers, re-installed them, and have possibly noticed a difference. Probably caused by the Killer wireless card, a lot of people dislike that brand for it's wifi cards. MrOzzy , Jul 2, You must log in or sign up to reply here.
